Thank you for your interest

The club trains in the Main Sports Hall at the Walnuts Leisure Centre, a facility managed by Bromley MyTime on behalf of the London Borough of Bromley. All the club's gymnasts are trained in the four Women's Artistic Gymnastic disciplines of Floor, Vault, Asymmetric Bars and Beam.

We do have a waiting list for membership of the club, so you are advised to apply as soon as possible.

Entry procedure varies depending upon age. Children under five years will be put on the waiting list, and invited to join as soon as a vacancy arises shortly before their fifth birthday. Children under seven will be entered on the waiting list and invited as soon as a vacancy occurs. We have reluctantly had to temporarily close our waiting list to applicants who have already reached the age of seven.

Children over seven years will be asked to take an aptitude test. Those that pass the test, and well over half of all applicants do, will be entered on the waiting list and invited to start as soon as a vacancy occurs. We have had to adopt this policy to prevent the waiting list from becoming unmanageable.
Tests take place on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm, and take about twenty minutes.

Once invited to start, initial training will take place in one of our Saturday recreational sessions, either from 8:30am to 10:15am, or 10:15am to Midday. Gymnasts will be assigned to a group based on their age and ability, and session times may change as they progress in age or ability.
Our prime objective for recreational members is that they enjoy their gymnastics in a safe and happy environment.

About a quarter of gymnasts starting in recreational groups will be invited to participate in additional and more intense competitive training which is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Those that choose to join the Elite Squad are required to undertake annual testing to confirm their continued suitability for squad training. Some gymnasts decide themselves to revert to recreational training for various reasons, and we welcome their continued involvement with the club.

Gymnasts moving into the Orpington area who have previously been members of other clubs will be considered for direct entry to the Elite Squad. The procedure here is to discuss the situation with the Head Coach and Welfare Officer during a weekday evening session. Each case will be determined on its own merits following discussion with the former club.

Please e-mail enquiries@orpington-gymnastic-club.org.uk with any questions you have, or to go on the waiting list or request an aptitude test state gymnast's name and date of birth, together with name, address and telephone number of parent/guardian. If you use MS Outlook (or other similar SMTP software) for e-mail, we have a preformatted e-mail enquiry form available to help you send us the required details, but note the form does not interact with Hotmail or any other http-based e-mail service.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
