Training & Fees
The club trains at the Walnuts Leisure Centre, Lych Gate Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 0TJ. Gymnasts are trained in the four Women's Artistic Gymnastic disciplines, and a typical training session will see the equipment for all four pieces in use simultaneously.
All training sessions are run under the direction of the Head Coach or nominated deputy, with each group of gymnasts under the control of a qualified coach, generally accompanied by at least one assistant or trainee coach.
Recreational gymnasts train on Saturday mornings. There are two session times, 8:30am to 10:15am, and 10:15am to mid day. After a fifteen minute warm-up, training sessions are split into five separate periods of activity on Floor, Asymmetric Bars, Beam, Tumble run, and Vault. Recreational groups typically comprise up to twelve gymnasts of broadly similar age and capability.
Fees for recreational gymnasts are presently £80 per term, payable before the first day of February, June and October. The club is non profit making, and the fees pay the expenses of running the club, the major outgoings being rental of the Walnuts Sports Hall, and British Gymnastics membership fees. New members are asked to pay a joining fee of £25 which includes their first years membership of British Gymnastics (currently up to £17 depending upon time of year). Subsequent years' BG fees are paid by the club.
Competitive (Elite Squad) members train both on Saturday and on Monday and/or Wednesday evenings between 6:30pm and 8:15pm. Competitive groups are arranged to contain gymnasts of closely matched capability, and are therefore smaller than the recreational groups. Fees for Elite Squad gymnasts vary depending upon an individual gymnast's actual hours of training, and parents are notified of the precise amount before accepting a place in the squad. Fees are payable before the first day of February, June and October.
